White Jerk Bait - Nose Hooked. Need I say more?
In my opinion, I don't think the size hook you're using is anything to stress about it. I typically use whatever I have on hand at the moment, and it always seems to work out, but if you're going out to buy new tackle, I would swing for a bigger hook because the bigger the hook, the better it will set. Along with this setup, I'm using at minimum 50 lb fluorocarbon solely because I'm after the big boys! You can still use the 20 and 30 lb; just be prepared to be proactive and have more on the boat because if you hook into the heavyweight snook chances of that line breaking are high!
If you take anything from this post, take this - work the bait FAST! If you have a strike or it blows up a little bit, do not stop working that bait! I know that everything in your body is going to tell you to stop and set the hook but fight the urge for the better! These snook out here will lose interest and spit your bait out before you even get a shot of setting. Stay in it for the long haul and land the picture-perfect snook!
